Ten in a row for Antranik women

BEIRUT, Lebanon (FLBB Women’s League): Antranik won their 10th Lebanese women’s League title in a row after their opponents in the Finals Al Riyadi Beirut withdrew from the titular contest in bizarre circumstances.

Antranik have, thus, won their 13th title overall in the 15 seasons of the League. Elie Nasr’s team already holds the longest winning streak for any club in Lebanese basketball – across genders and age-groups.

Al Riyadi Beirut and Sagesse each with seven titles in a row in the more high profile men’s league come a distant second to Antranik women.

This year’s triumph must come all that much sweeter for Elie Nasr and his long-time trusted lieutenant Chada Nasr coming as it does in the background of Nayla Alameddine’s retirement and Cherine Charaf’s move to Riyadi not to forget the injuries to certain key players.

Antranik now line up against Homentmen Antelias in the Lebanese Cup Finals on Sunday.
