Game 3: Mahram won 111-93

TEHRAN, Iran (Iranian Super League): Mahram cruised along to a 111-93 win in Game 3 of the 2011-12 Iranian Super League Finals against Petrochimi on Monday thus sweeping the best-of-five titular contest 3-0 and clinching their fourth successive League title.

Petro showed a lot of guts and gumption in holding their own in the early part of the game. The Mahshahr team even managed to sneak ahead 23-22 at the close of the first quarter.

But a 22-8 blitz in the first five minutes of the second quarter – including 10 unanswered points – put Mahram firmly in control, from where Mostafa Hashemi’s team never looked back.

Samad Bahrami was in his elements leading the way for Mahram with a game-high 25 points and also hauling down 8 rebounds.

Senegalese Pape Sow contributed the only double-double of the game with 22 points and 14 rebounds and fellow import Georgian Nikoloz Tskitishvili added 17 points along with 7 rebounds.

Hamed Afagh had 19 points with Farid Aslani added a dozen points. Kamrani had 8 points as many rebounds and as many assists.

Mehrad Atashi’s 21 points led Petro’s scoring with youngster Saleh Forootan making the most of his first start in a Super League game with 14 points.

Imports Nigerian Jalil Akindele and American Josef Forte had 13 points each. Aidin Kabir who later announced his retirement as a player had 11 points in his last game as a player.
