BEIJING, China (21st FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women): Li Meng, once hailed as the most promising player in the Chinese women’s basketball circuit, but sat out the entire 2011 due to various reasons will make a comeback when China take to court to defend their gold medal at the 21st FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women to be played in Johor Bahru (Malaysia) from Sept 29-Oct 6.
Li Meng (pic above) the MVP of the competition when China won the bronze medal at the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship for Women in France is one of three most experienced members in the team.
Yang Liwei, a member of the Chinese team that won the bronze medal at the 2nd FIBA Asia U16 Championship for Women at Jinan (China) last year and the tall and lanky Zhang Liting are the other players who played in France and have been included in China’s prelim roster for Johor Bahru.
Yang Liwei of course is one of the six members who have been called from the team that played in Jinan.
Yang Hengyu, Hue Yueming, Wang Zhen, Huang Sijing and the gangling Gong Li are the others.
