QAT - Trey Johnson likely to be naturalized for Qatar for FA Cup
 

DOHA, Qatar (4th FIBA Asia Cup): Clinton ‘Trey’ Johnson a New Orleans Hornets shooting guard is in all likelihood to appear as a naturalized player for the Qatar National Team in the 4th FIBA Asia Cup to be played in Tokyo (Japan) from Sept 14-22.

An alumnus of Jackson State alumnus has also played for Cleveland Cavaliers (2008-09) and Toronto Raptors (2009-10) and Los Angeles Lakers (2010-11) representing the last mentioned in three play-off games in 2011.

During his senior year at the Jackson State, Johnson was named as the NCAA’s Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Season.

Twice a member of the NBA D-League All Star, the 196-cm 28-year-old also made it to the NBA D-League First team in 2011.

Qatar, the winners of the FIBA Asia Cup in its inaugural edition in 2004 when it the competition was known as FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup are drawn with hosts Japan, Iran, Chinese Taipei and India in the Group B Prelim Round of the competition at the 4th FIBA Asia Cup.
