JOHOR BAHRU, Malaysia (21st FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women): Chinese playmaker Yang Liwei will bay for blood when she spearheads the defending gold medalists campaign at the 21st FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women starting in Johor Bahru (Malaysia) this Saturday, with China having lost out before the gold medal game the last time she played for the Chinese team.
At the 2nd FIBA Asia U16 Championship for Women at Jinan (China) in 2011, Yang Liwei was one of the hottest stars but faltered at the crucial moment allowing Kim Sion to drive in and score a buzzer-beater and help her team, thus ousting China out of the gold medal game in front of a home crowd at that.
Therefore, when the Chinese team arrives in Johor Bahru, Yang Liwei will not only one of the more experienced players in Li Jin’s team, but one with a lot of “personal purpose” to play for.
Yang Liwei will have Gong Li, Huang Sijing, Yang Hengyu and Wang Zhen, who also played at Jinan, for company in her quest for revenge!
