BEIRUT, Lebanon (FLB Division A League): Talismanic superstar Fadi El Khatib played his customary leader’s role as Champville, who won their maiden FLB Division A League title last year, began the 2012-13 season beating last year’s finalists Anibal 99-83 in the Lebanese Super Cup on Wednesday.

Racing ahead 28-19 at the end of the first 10 minutes, Champville’s grip on the game at the Demirdjian Center only tightened as it progressed.

El Khatib led the game in scoring with 28 points – in a 10/18 in field shooting – along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Khalil Aoun had 18 points with American Reyshawn Terry adding 15 points.

Joey Accaoui’s 18 points was the highest for Anibal, who are looking a far cry from the team that captured the imagination of Lebanese basketball last season.

Bachir Saad had 15 points.
