27th FA Championship: Prelim Round Schedule announced
MANILA, Philippines (27th FIBA Asia Championship): The schedule of games for the Preliminary Round competition at the 27th FIBA Asia Championship to be played in Manila from Aug 1-11 has been announced.
Reigning champions China will take on fellow East Asian team archrivals Korea, with Jordan the silver medalists of the last edition at the 26th FIBA Asia Championship at Wuhan (China) in 2011 lining up against Chinese Taipei on the opening day of the competition.
Hosts Philippines open their campaign against Saudi Arabia while twice former champions Iran will be up against Malaysia on the opening day.

The fray for the 27th FIBA Asia Championship was filled up following the completion of the 10th SEABA Championship which identified Thailand and Malaysia as the two SEABA representatives.
The Final Groupings for 27th FIBA Asia Championship
Group A: Jordan, Chinese Taipei, Philippines, Saudi Arabia,
Group B: Hong Kong, Japan, Qatar, Lebanon.
Group C: China, Iran, Korea, Malaysia.
Group D: India, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Thailand.

About 27th FIBA Asia Championship
Manila, the capital of Philippines, will play host to 16 top teams from six different FIBA Asia sub-zones to identify the Champion men’s team of FIBA Asia.
The FIBA Asia Championship, played every two years, is the most important event in FIBA Asia involving the top men’s National Teams.
The 27th FIBA Asia Championship, also the qualifying event for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, will be held from Aug 1-11 at Manila.
The top the three teams from Manila will all qualify directly for the biggest basketball event in the world.
The 27th FIBA Asia Championship is the third occasion when Manila will host this prestigious event, but the first in 40 years.
