BEIJING, China (CBA): Defending champions Guangdong posted their 12th win in a row to clinch the 2013-14 CBA Regular Season title by beating Bayi 106-89 and Guangsha Lions secured their place in the play-offs with a 109-107 win over Sichuan, but the highlight of CBA’s Round 31 action on Sunday was the 178-177 win Fujian recorded against Zhejiang which came after the first five Overtime game in CBA’s 19-year history.

The quarterwise progression of the scores in the Fujian-Zhejiang game, which lasted more than three hours and sent quite a few records tumbling was: 28-26, 50-47, 82-85, 110-110, 132-132, 144-144, 160-160, 170-170, 178-177. Box scores

Iranian superstar Samad Bahrami played for 67 minutes and 17 seconds in the game for Fujian, making it one of the longest court-times for any single player in the history of the game, and went on to return 37 points, 11 points, 3 assists and 7 steals. Wang Zhelin and Delonte West to scored 37 points, the former pulling down 13 rebounds and the latter 11 rebounds.

Fujian and Zhejiang also scored the highest points by any team in a CBA game, while the combined tally of 355 points was another CBA record.

Bayi had held the previous record for the most points in a CBA game when they beat Nanjing 163-94 in the 1999-2000 season. The previous record for the highest total points in a CBA game was 287 points, which happened on two occasions – when Liaoning beat Guangdong 146-141 in the 1998-99 season and while Zhejiang beat Jilin 151-136 in the 2001-02 season.

Yi Jianlian shines again

Yi Jianlian scored 31 points and grabbed 7 rebounds leading Guangdong’s win over Bayi. Joshua Powell and Ren Junfei each had 16 points, the former also accounting for 10 rebounds.

Tian Yuxiang’s 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists led Bayi who lost their 11th successive game. Veteran center Wang Zhizhi contributed 16 points.

Guangsha through

Guangsha became the fifth team to clinch a place in the play-offs – after Guangdong, Xinjiang, Beijing and Dongguan – when they defeated Sichuan for their 20th win in the season.

Jonathan Gibson led Guangsha’s win with 41 points and Li Bing contributed 23 points. Michael Efervberha’s 31 points led Sichuan.
